Windows 11 26H2 Is Being Rolled Out to All PCs on 24H2 and 25H2 via Windows Update

⚡ The gist in 5 seconds - Microsoft has opened up automatic installation of Windows 11 26H2 via Windows Update for all devices on 24H2 and 25H2. - Previously, the upgrade was only available through the "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" toggle. - The expansion started roughly a month after the rollout began — according to Deskmodder. ### 🔍 What was found The German portal Deskmodder reports that Windows 11 26H2 is now available automatically via Windows Update not just to select groups, but to all machines running Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. Until now, users on both branches could only get the new version manually — by enabling the "Erhalten Sie die neuesten Updates, sobald sie verfügbar sind" ("Get the latest updates as soon as they're available") toggle in the Windows Update section. The mechanics are simple: the update arrives as a regular scheduled update, without enabling early access and without installing anything manually. Microsoft expanded the list of devices roughly a month after the rollout began — meaning the pace of deployment has accelerated compared to the start. The source gives no exact timeline for when the phased rollout will end. ### 💡 Why it matters The move to 26H2 happens in the background: if you don't postpone the update, it will install itself, and your machine will quietly move to the new version without you noticing. For those deliberately staying on 24H2 or 25H2, this is a signal to check Windows Update settings and defer the upgrade until the new build has been verified on their hardware. It also shows that Microsoft isn't stretching the transition over months, but is ramping it up almost immediately after the first phase.
